The Lac de Panthier french campsite at Vandenesse is a Sunêlia campsite set on the edge of a lake, in the countryside of Auxois in the Burgundy Region. The site is only about 2 or 3 km from a main route south, the Autoroute du Soleil (A6 / E60 ?) so is ideal for either an overnight stop or a few days stopover on the route south or a longer stay.

The campsite restaurant offers a panoramic view over the lake and offers regional specialities. There is a sandy beach on the lake as well as a sailing centre. Bikes can be hired and there is a cycle or walking route around the lake.

The nearest town is Pouilly-en-Auxois which is 8km away.

This French campsite offers a choice of well sized pitches (120 to 160m²) for tents, caravans etc. You can stay near the lake or near the pool, in a sunny or shaded pitch. Pets are welcome.

There is also a variety of accommodation offered, in cabins and mobile homes, offering accomodation for up to 6 people. There is also an accommodation suitably converted for wheelchair access .


Campsite Facilities

  • Indoor Pool : heated throughout the season. With a sauna and fitness centre in same area. Mornings are reserved for adults, afternoons for all the family
  • Outdoor aquatic area : sunbathing on the beach and a shallow toddlers pool. Open from May 28 to September 8, the complex consists of 3 pools (200m ² of pools in total, not heated) including 1 children's pool and a waterslide. In summer, an outlet for ice and drinks for a little refreshment at the waterside.
  • Please note: Swimming is not monitored. Every child must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
  • Sandy beach on the lake with supervised swimming in July / August
  • Restaurant with panoramic views, Bar, pancake house, ice creams, takeway including pizzas etc.
  • Minimarket with baguettes,croissants (may need to order in low season), and of course local Burgundy wine !
  • TV rental (on some models of accommodation)

  • Fishing on the lake: whitebait, carp, perch, pike etc. (permits/accessories sold at the campsite)

Beaune (35km)

Beaune is the capital of the wine region of Burgundy. The Hôtel Dieu, the Hospices de Beaune, in the centre of Beaune is famous for its colourful tiled roof. There is a wine tasting takes place in an ancient church, where, for 10 Euros you can taste the famous wines of the region. Sometimes the best reds are kept to the end ! Open every day throughout the year from 9.00-11.30 and 14.00-17.30 in July and August (to avoid disappointment please double check opening times before you go. Market Day is Saturday.

Visit Burgundy Vineyards

Between Dijon and Beaune you can visit many vineyards. There are big familiar names such as Gevrey Chambertin, Nuits St Georges, Clos de Vougeot among others. The area south of Dijon is known as Côte de Nuits and you will find 24 Grand Cru vineyards there. It is famous for its Pinot Noir wine. Further to the south is the Côte de Beaune area, which is named after the medieval village of Beaune that is the heart of wine commerce in Burgundy.
